John C. Himsel, age 53 of Dubois, IN, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at home.

John was born in Troy, Missouri on January 27, 1964 to James C. and Viola (Recker) Himsel.

He was a graduate of Jasper High School.

He worked for Farbest Foods in Huntingburg.

He loved to read, liked history and science, collecting Indian artifacts, mushroom hunting, and traveling.

Surviving include six sisters; Wanda Haas of Jasper, Mary Hohl of Santa Claus, Angela Himsel Sacks (Selig) of NY, NY, Elizabeth Eblen (Doug) Greenwood, IN, Sarah Burcon (David) Ann Harbor, MI, and Rachael Himsel of Bloomington, IN, Three brothers; James R. Himsel and Edward Himsel (Kathy) both of Jasper, and Paul Himsel, of Terre Haute, IN, Nieces and Nephews.

Preceding him in death was his partner, Lucy Bove, his parents, and one sister, Abby Himsel.

A visitation for John C. Himsel will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Becher- Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN.

A gravesite service at Community Cemetery in Haysville, IN will be held at a later date.
