During a presentation on Tuesday at the Jasper City Hall Cale Knies, the city’s Director of Personnel Safety Loss Control accepted INSHARP’s recertification on behalf of the all the departments, responsible for years of excellence in work place safety.

The City achieved recertification in the Indiana Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program also known as (INSHARP) and has been maintaining the certification for over 14 years.

Knies, who was appointed Director of Personnel/Safety/Loss Control in 2012 when former Director Charlie Schneider retired after serving 18 years in the position, says maintaining safe standards is an effort that continues….

Maintaining certification for over 14 years sets the city apart as they are one of the few who have been able to achieve this standard.

 

 

Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Labor Rick Ruble presented the recertification, noting that the longevity the city has seen in safety continues to be an example to others…

The Department of Labor with INSHARP works in cooperation with the city to improve work place safety by providing recognition to Hoosier employers that operate exemplary safety and health management systems.

The City of Jasper is the only public sector organization that has achieved INSHARP.

Jasper the county seat of Dubois County, is home to over 15,000 Hoosiers, the 55th largest Indiana city, and an employer of approximately 174 workers. The City’s most recent workplace injury and illness rate was nearly half the national industry average.
