Mary Jane Striegel, age 88, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 8:20 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.

Mary Jane was born in Celestine, Indiana on September 3, 1929, to Theodore and Margaret (Humbert) Knies. She married Paul John Striegel on October 4, 1952, at St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine, Indiana.

Mary Jane was a homemaker, and had worked at Aristokraft for 16 years.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Blessed Virgin Sodality, and the Celestine Community Club.

She loved homemaking, especially cooking, and also enjoyed walking, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Paul John Striegel, Jasper, IN, one daughter, Gayle Ann (John) Hochgesang, Jasper, IN, and two sons, David Paul Striegel, Salisbury, MD, and Brian Joseph (Diane) Striegel, Bothell, WA, four grandchildren, Chris Hochgesang, Erin Clem, Jacob Striegel, and Heather Striegel, one sister, Brenda (C.G.) Epple, Haubstadt, IN, four brothers, Richard (Carol) Knies, Jasper, IN, Larry Knies, Jasper, IN, Dallas (Inez) Knies, Celestine, IN, and Douglas (Kathy) Knies, Evansville, IN.

Preceding her in death is one sister-in-law, Peg Knies.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Jane Striegel will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, IN, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 12:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, and one hour before services at the church on Monday. The Blessed Virgin Sodality will pray a rosary at 11:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, Kindred Hospice or to a favorite charity.
