A Jasper man who was believed to be intoxicated allegedly spit on a police officer was taken into custody Sunday morning and now faces a pair of charges.

Around 9 o’clock yesterday morning officers with the Jasper Police Department were called to Central Christian Church on the city’s southside to assist Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services who were called to the church because a male subject was found locked inside a vehicle unresponsive.

Arteaga MugPolice say they were forced to break out one of the vehicle’s back windows to gain entry. Officers determined the man inside, 32-year old Antonio Arteaga of Jasper was intoxicated testing .14 on a portable breath test.

Now to make matters worse police say while being taken to the Dubois County Security Center, Arteaga became disorderly and spit in an officers face.

Arteaga was booked into the security center on charges of Public Intoxication and Battery by Bodily Waste.
