Republican Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma recently appointed District 63 State Representative Mike Braun of Jasper to the House Education Committee.

In a news release Braun pointed out that  Committee meetings provide a great opportunity for legislators to hear expert testimony and input from the public.

Mike BraunBraun says he’s excited to help lead discussions on many of the critical issues facing the state this session. He says the committee members will be tasked with finding ways to attract and retain great teachers in the state’s classrooms, and working to develop a comprehensive, long-term strategy to maintain and improve Indiana’s transportation infrastructure.

Braun will in the meantime continue to serve on the house Roads and Transportation and Ways and Means committees.

Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process.  During these meetings, public testimony is given and details of proposed legislation are discussed before possibly being considered by all members of the House.

Committee meetings are live-streamed online at www.in.gov/iga.

Braun represents Indiana House District 63 which includes portions of Daviess, Dubois, Pike and Martin counties.
