During the month of May, the Dubois County Humane Society will offer no-cost spay and neuter surgeries, plus free rabies vaccinations as part of “Community Cat,” Pet Smart Charities spay neuter campaign to alter free roaming cats.

Spay and neutering is one of the most effective ways to reduce the homeless pet population and is safe for kittens as young as eight to 10 weeks old.

Spaying a female cat before the first heat cycle can be beneficial, improving the health of the cat by reducing the risk of certain reproductive cancers and infections. The special free rate is available to all residents of Dubois County.

Sign up is required in advance to reserve a spot. Hours are Monday from 11 am till 1 pm and 6 till 8 pm. Thursday’s 11 am till 1 pm, And Saturday’s 11am till 3 pm.
