Donald P. Smith, age 78 of Jasper passed away at 1:50 a.m. Monday, (September 19, 2016), in Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.
He was born on July 22, 1938 Logansport, Indiana to Byron and Gertrude (Slatton) Smith. He married Sondra Taylor February 19, 1972 at Carmel, Indiana.
Don was a graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor Degree in business marketing.
Don Smith opened and managed the JCPenney department store in Jasper Manor Center from 1991 to 1998 . He worked for JCPenney for 35 years managing several different locations.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland.

Seven grandchildren, Chloe, Drake, Quinten, Eliot, Gabriel, Gerard and Shelby.

Dick Smith and wife Sandy, Logansport, IN
One sister, Karen Gremelspacher, Walton, IN
Also several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by one brother Robert Smith.
Funeral services for Don Smith will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, (September 22, 2016), in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ireland.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, (September 21, 2016) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Northwood Retirement Community.
