Shirley Ann Slunder, age 79, passed away at 9:10 a.m., on Friday, September 23, 2016, at her home in Stendal, Indiana.

slunder-obit-photo754She was born January 14, 1937, in Warrensburg, Illinois to Ted and Elberta (Garrett) Lowe. Shirley was a retired nurse’s aide. She enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Slunder, who died January 22, 1991; one daughter, Donna Sisco; one son, Ricky Hall; one stepdaughter, Louise Julius; one brother, Leo Lowe; and two sisters, Jean Wilson and Harriett Whitten.

She is survived by:

One son and daughter-in-law,

Rodney (Joy) Hall of Stendal, Ind.;

One daughter,

Paula Jones of Westmoreland, Tennessee;

Her partner of 20 years and best friend,

Jerry Tislow of Hazleton, Ind.;

One stepdaughter,

Helen Caldemeyer of Stendal, Ind.;

Two stepsons,

Jerry Slunder of Wake Forest, North Carolina,

David Slunder of Mesa, Arizona;

One brother,

Glenn Lowe of Decatur, Illinois;

One sister,

Mary Knittle of Decatur, Illinois;

by (6) grandchildren and (1) great grandchild.

Funeral services for Shirley Ann Slunder will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Cup Creek Cemetery near Velpen. Chaplain Jack Neighbors with Genteva Hospice will officiate at the funeral service.
