Officials with the Indiana Department of Transportation say motorist should expect the closure of State Road 56 starting September 12th. Plans are in place for a short-term closure of State Road 56 west of Ireland for a pipe replacement project.

The state’s official detour uses U.S. 231, State Road 64 and State Road 257. The closure will be between US Hwy 231 in Jasper and State Road 257 at Otwell. Local traffic will have access up to County Road 550W, west of Ireland.

Start and finish dates are weather permitting and work is projected to take less than a week.
