National Office Furniture, a unit of Jasper based Kimball International, says it’s Boston Showroom has been awarded LEED-CI Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The showroom, designed by CBT Architects, received this certification for energy and water usage, lighting, and material selections, as well as incorporating a variety of other sustainable strategies.

LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a certification program for buildings and communities that guides their design, construction, operations, and maintenance toward sustainability. It’s based on prerequisites and credits that a project meets to achieve a certification level.

The showroom’s full height windows allow for natural daylight and LED lighting reduces energy usage and cooling costs. Low emitting materials, including National’s furniture, construction materials, and architectural features enhanced Indoor Air Quality. Thermal comfort points were obtained and contribute to occupant productivity and well-being.
