robert-l-meiringRobert L. Meiring, age 80 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 11:00 p.m. on Thursday (October 27, 2016) at the Timbers of Jasper.

Robert was born in St. Meinrad, Indiana on April 2, 1936 to Robert A. Sr. and Lucille (Hedinger) Meiring. He married Nancy Sermersheim in St. Joseph Catholic Church on June 20, 1959. She preceded him in death on December 23, 2009.

Robert was a cabinetmaker, and also worked as a locksmith and for the photo lab at Walmart.

He was a U.S. Army Signal Core Veteran who served in Germany from 1956 to 1958.

He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, a lifelong member of the Jasper Knights of Columbus and lifelong associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was also a member of the Dubois County Museum, the Dubois County Genealogical Society, the Jasper and Ireland Historical Societies, the Ireland Sportsman’s Club, and Emergency Management of Dubois County Amateur Radio.

In the 60’s he enjoyed playing music with the band the “Kountry Kats”. In his later years he enjoyed genealogy, playing music at the Timbers, and spending time with family.

Preceding him in death beside his wife was one son, Dean Meiring.

Funeral services for Robert L. Meiring will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday (October 31, 2016) at Precious Blood Catholic in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Shiloh Cemetery in Jasper, Indiana. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military grave site rights.

Friends may call from Noon to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday (October 30, 2016) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at the church on Monday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Precious Blood Catholic Church, The Timbers of Jasper, Southern Care Hospice, or to a favorite charity.
