Virgil D. Ross, 38 of Evansville, Indiana was arrested in connection with a two week old theft case that involved a stolen Honda generator from the Jasper Rural King store. On September 28 surveillance cameras at the Rural King, captured the picture of a suspect in the act. The images were shared across social media, as state police investigators hoped it would generate leads to the identity of the suspect.

Ross was then identified when he visited the Rural King store again on October 11, by an employee who thought they had seen him in the store. It happened that Ross was attempting to steal an identical Honda generator that had been stolen in September. The Jasper Police were contacted and detained Ross upon arriving at the store. They contacted the State Police so that investigators could continue their investigation.

Officers agreed that the photograph was that of Ross. Ross was placed into custody and transported, without incident, to the Dubois County Security Center and booked on a Level 6 Felony of Theft.
