District 63 State Representative Mike Braun of Jasper was recently selected to serve on the House Committee on Ways and Means, House Committee on Roads and Transportation and House Select Committee on Government Reduction.

In a release Braun says committee meetings provide a great opportunity for legislators to hear expert testimony and gather input from the public.

He says his top priority this session will be to pass a balanced state budget that retains healthy reserves and continues to fund priorities like education and infrastructure.

Braun says they will also be tasked with crafting a long-term, sustainable funding solution that maintains and improves Indiana’s roads and bridges for years to come.

Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election. On January 4th House lawmakers will convene at 1:30 p.m. in the House Chamber for the first day of the 2017 legislative session.

Standing committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas.
