The Invasive Species Awareness Coalition of Dubois County (ISAC) is excited to announce that Governor Eric Holcomb has proclaimed February 27 to March 3 Invasive Species Awareness Week in Indiana.

Governor Holcomb’s proclamation states that efforts to prevent, monitor and control invasive species cost $6 million annually in Indiana and that they are the second greatest threat to biodiversity in our state. It goes on to say that invasive species “impede industry, threaten agriculture, endanger human health and are becoming increasingly harder to control.”

In honor of this proclamation, the Invasive Species Coalition of Dubois County is hosting an educational booth at the Jasper Home Expo on March 10 and 11.

Dubois County residents interested in learning more about invasive species are encouraged to go to our website, www.isacdc.org, find us on facebook, or call 812-678-5049. ISAC Dubois County was formed to focus on public awareness, mapping and eradication of invasive species in Dubois County. The group is made up of concerned landowners, nature buffs, public lands managers and natural resource professionals.
