The Dubois County Emergency Management Agency has released the following information concerning debris removal for the areas of the county that were affected by the tornado which passed through Dubois County during the late evening of Tuesday, February 28 into the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 1, 2017.  If you have any damage that has not already been reported please contact the Emergency Management Agency at 812-482-2202.

To facilitate the debris removal efforts, the county has set up roll off containers at the following locations:

  • The Corner of Walnut and Grant Street (Directly across street from Ireland K of C)
  • Mike Dick Residence, 7251 W 200 N, Jasper, IN
  • Scott Vollmer Farm, 8483 W 150 N, Jasper, IN

These sites will be open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm beginning Friday, March 3 and will remain open daily until March 8th. The county will continue to review the need for additional sites as more information is received.

Materials which may be disposed of at drop off site:

  • Metal
  • Treated Wood
  • Shingles

If you have any woody debris that needs to be disposed of,  please gather it and pull it to the edge of your property  adjacent to  your county road and then contact the county highway at 812-482-5505 and they will set up a pick up time.  The State of Indiana and Dubois County will not allow the open burning of the storm debris with a few exceptions. The only allowable items which maybe burned are: wooden agricultural structures, clean wood, tree limbs and paper. Before any materials are burned, the property owner must contact their local fire chief.
