While on routine patrol, a Jasper Police Department officer identified Brandon Wilkinson of Francisco operating a motor vehicle, with knowledge from previous encounters that Wilkinson’s driving status was HTV (habitual traffic violator).  While officers were speaking with subject, he was lethargic and stumbling when he walked.  Due to this observation, Wilkinson was transported to Memorial Hospital for a chemical test and medical clearance.

Due to the results of the chemical test, Wilkinson was charged with OWI controlled substance.  Officers contacted Deputy Monarrez and his K9 Karma to assist with the investigation.  Karma indicated the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.  Officers searched the vehicle and located a handgun, scale, methamphetamine, heroin, and LSD.  After further investigation, it was determined that Wilkinson did not have a handgun permit and the charge was enhanced due to being within 500 ft. of a school.

Wilkinson was charged with Level 6 felonies of possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, possession of LSD, and Operating While HTV, along with a Level 5 felony of possession of a handgun without a licence, and two Class C misdemeanors of possession of paraphernalia and operating while intoxicated by a controlled substance. He was taken into custody and lodged in the Dubois County Security Center.  Jasper Police Department was assisted by the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
