After six intense weeks of robot designing and building, and two previous district competitions, thousands of students, parents, teachers, and industry professionals will assemble in Indianapolis from March 24th-25th to participate in the Perry Meridian District Event as part of theFIRST® Robotics Competition. This is the final of three district competitions where High School age robotics teams can qualify for the State Championship Event. Among these high school teams is Thundercats, a team from Jasper High School.

This playoff event is a part of the IndianaFIRST District series. Teams competing at this event receive district ranking points based on their final qualification ranking, playoff performance and for any awards they receive.

Competition at the Perry Meridian Event will be fierce since the results will be the final determining factor for State Championship qualification. Going into the Perry Meridian District Event the IndianaFIRST district leader is Team THRUST from Huntington Indiana and they lead with 94 district points. Team Munster Horse Power from Munster Indiana is ranked second with 79 district points, and Westside Boiler Invasion from West Lafayette Indiana is ranked third with 78 district points.

The atmosphere of a robotics competition is markedly similar to a basketball game; fans decked out in spirited clothing, constant cheering, and the moments of euphoria when a team scores just before the buzzer rings. It’s a truly incredible experience for all involved.

The Perry Meridian District Event High School Robotics Competition will be held at Perry Meridian High School in Indianapolis on Friday, March 24th and Saturday, March 25th.
