A Loogootee man was arrested Thursday morning after he choked and threatened a woman with a gun.

Early Sunday morning, Loogootee Police and Martin County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a home in the 500 block of Butcher Boulevard in Loogootee after a woman reported she had been threatened with a gun. When officers arrived they separated the two and no charges were filed.

Then later, the woman contacted Indiana State Senior Trooper Jarrod Lents, reporting that during the earlier domestic fight she had been choked by her boyfriend, 20-year-old Jayce Wagoner. The woman told Trooper Lents that her boyfriend told her if any police report was filed about the incident he was going to beat up the officer as well as the woman. The woman also told Trooper Lents that Wagoner earlier in the week had threatened to shoot and kill her.

Thursday at 10:48 a.m., Trooper Lents armed with an arrest warrant arrested Wagoner on felony charges of strangulation, intimidation, domestic battery and criminal confinement. He was arrested without incident and taken to the Martin County Jail.
