The Mark E. Grundman Conservation Law Scholarship has been established through the Vincennes University Foundation to honor and recognize Grundman’s passion for the great outdoors and the life he enjoyed with family and friends.

The scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman majoring in conservation law. The recipient will be required to maintain a 2.0 GPA at during the scholarship period. Preference will be given to applications from South Knox or Rivet High Schools with financial need.

“The VU Foundation is grateful to Mark’s family and friends for their gracious gifts in making this scholarship possible and continuing his legacy of helping others,” stated Bumper Hostetler, VU Foundation President.

Grundman touched the lives of people from all over the United States and afar through his business, Grundman Shoes, which opened in 1981. Grundman and his employees were renowned for their quality and rewarded with worldwide respect. He served his profession on the national level and, through his business, set high standards for the Pedorthic industry.

Grundman was head council for the Pedorthic Footcare Association and for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services with regard to shoes for diabetic patients. He was the leading expert in the United States on coding and clinical level issues for footcare and most of the current U.S. testing and safety requirements were developed during his leadership.

The Mark E. Grundman Conservation Law Scholarship memorializes his love of nature and belief in God as a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The scholarship will help preserve the worldly respect he showed through his involvement as an active member of Ducks Unlimited, Quail Unlimited, and the Vincennes Elks, as well as his support of organizations like the Knox County Humane Society and the Vincennes Animal Shelter.

Grundman passed away in September of 2016.
