Yesterday morning, at approximately 9:30 AM, the jasper Police Department was called to 216 W 6th St, Apt 202 to assist with a possible drug investigation at that location.

While there, a cigarette package with an unknown substance, along with a syringe, was located in the bathroom of the home. JPD K9 Ares was brought in to conduct a search of the home and while doing so he gave a positive indication to the unknown substance, which was in a cigarette package, as being narcotics. A subsequent field test of the substance was completed and it field tested positive as being heroin.

It was determined that the heroin and syringe were the property of Kurt V. Gabhart. He was taken into custody and lodged at the Dubois County Security Center.
