On Monday night the Dubois County Sheriffs Department was assisted by the Ferdinand Police Department and Ferdinand Fire Department after a 2001 Toyota Solara crashed into brush and trees causing it to flip multiple times.

Just after 6pm last night the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of a 2001 Toyota Solara that was eastbound on I-64 at the 61 mile marker, that had lost control causing it to travel off the south side of the interstate where it made its way through small trees, brush and vegetation.

The Toyota had flipped multiple times as a result of leaving the roadway and came to rest on its wheels just off the south side of the interstate.

Driving the 2001 Toyota Solara was 53-year-old Abderrahmane Chouarfia of North Carolina. He was able to safely exit the vehicle and was transported to Memorial Hospital for precautionary treatment.

The vehicle was a total loss. Dubois County Sheriff Deputies were assisted by the Ferdinand police Department, the Ferdinand Fire Department, Memorial Hospital EMS and Bergs Wrecker Service.
