Richard Lee Lichlyter, age 76 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 9:40 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017 at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana.

Rich was born in Huntingburg, Indiana on May 12, 1940 to the late Daniel and Jeneva (Kraft) Lichlyter.

He owned and operated Rich’s Gas Mart in Jasper, Indiana for many years where he was a sponsor of Spike Gehlhausen’s Indianapolis 500 car. He also worked for Kimball at the Jasper Corporation and Heritage Hills locations.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Surviving are two daughters, Sandy Lichlyter, Boston, MA, Chris Crane (David), Alexandria, VA, one son, Scott Lichlyter, Huntingburg, IN, four grandsons, Forrest, William and Sam Crane, and Hudson Roddy, two sisters, Dorothy Hall (Wallace), Jasper, and Sharon Lichlyter, Evansville, IN, one brother, Donnie Lichlyter (Pete), Jasper, IN.

Preceding him in death was one sister Carolyn Lichlyter Petry, and three brothers, Daniel Jr, Bob, and John Lichlyter.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Lee Lichlyter will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, IN, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
