It was another wonderful ceremony this year as the Rotary Club of Jasper honored local woman, who humbly serve and commit to their communities, at the 6th annual Jasper Rotary Athena Awards presentation at the Huntingburg Event Center. Last night 6 nominees came together to celebrate each other and their surrounding community members. Tonya Heim took home this years 2017 Athena Award…
Heim is the Current Vice President of Patient Services & Chief Nursing Officer at Memorial Hospital and continues her leadership role throughout the community as she serves on several boards, Advisory Councils and Charity organizations. This year Heim choose girls on the run as the charity of choice. Girls on the Run is a non-profit program that works to encourage pre-teen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games.
Heim shared why its so important for future generations to recognize the importance of strong woman leadership…
All the woman who were nominated for this years award were examples of those who seek to serve with all of them contributing to leadership through authentic self, giving back, fierce advocacy and traditional leadership skills. All the nominees displayed a common denominator, which was how humble they were to have even been nominated for such an award.
Leah Jesse, one of this years nominees shared similar thinking of her counterparts when she summed up what it meant to be recognized by her peers for this award…
