Huntingburg Police placed a man under arrest they say attacked a woman by strangulation and held her against her own will at his residence Thursday evening.

Around 7:30 last night Huntingburg officers were called to the Oak Ridge Apartments where a female victim told police she had just come from the home of 24-year old Andrew Burch located along the 600 Block of Washington Street.

The victim told police that while at the Burch residence she was allegedly battered and strangled and that Burch had attempted to sexually batter her. She also told police that she had been stopped from leaving the home several times.

Police caught up with and arrested Burch along the 1600 block of Chestnut Street in the parking lot of the Church of Christ after he saw officers driving through Oak Ridge and tried to flee on foot. He was taken into custody without any further incident.

Burch was taken to and booked into the Dubois County Security Center in Jasper on a Level 5 felony count of criminal confinement with bodily injury, Level 6 felony counts of strangulation and attempted sexual battery and a misdemeanor count of battery with bodily injury.
