All four local high school marching bands will compete in area contests Saturday.

The Jasper High Marching Wildcats will perform at 1:45 pm CDT Saturday at the Murray State University Festival of Champions in Murray Kentucky. The contest also includes a finals competition Saturday evening.

Last week the Marching Wildcats received a participation award Saturday in Open Class B at the Avon Invitational at Avon High School.

The Marching Raiders of Southridge High School Raiders will make a return trip to Evansville Saturday and compete at 4:56 p.m. CDT at Romain Stadium on the campus of Evansville Harrison High School.

Southridge placed third last Saturday in Class AA at the Evansville North Invitational at Evansville North High School.

The Marching Raider Band also earned the honor of best percussion and best drum major in their class.

After placing second in Class 4A last Saturday at Evansville North and earning the distinction of best overall visual and best overall pit crew at the contest. The Forest Park Marching Rangers will march Saturday at 8:06 p.m. at the Springs Valley Festival of Marching Bands at Springs Valley High School.

And the Northeast Dubois Marching Jeeps too will march at 4:26 p.m. Saturday at Springs Valley.

The Jeeps placed third in Class A Saturday at the Floyd Central Highlander Invitational at Floyd Central High School.

They also earned the distinction of best field commander and best overall general effect.
