Wednesday night, the Huntingburg City Council held the first public hearing for the 2018 budget.

Figures show the city’s assessed value sits at $163 million with a total budget as submitted to the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance at a little more than $11 million dollars.

Huntingburg Clerk/Treasurer Tom Dipple says the assessed tax submitted to the state is at a $1.82 per $100 of assessed value, however, Dipple says that number is higher than usually approved.

He says the assessed tax rate for this year was at a $1.20 per $100 of assessed value that the amount will likely be lowered to $1.22 per $100 assessed value.

The Huntingburg Common Council will consider the final adoption of the budget at its next meeting set for October 9th at 7 pm at Huntingburg City Hall.
