The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a lane closure for U.S. 50 Just east of Loogootee.

Beginning on or around Monday, Sept. 11, INDOT Crews will begin placing a temporary signal to divert traffic into the eastbound lane. The westbound lanes of U.S. 50 between mile markers 36 and 37, outside of Loogootee will be shut down due to sliding of the road bed. Work on the temporary signal is expected to take two days and it will be activated on Wednesday Sept. 13. During that time, the lane closures will be in effect around the clock.

The slide correction is expected to take about 10 months to complete. INDOT urges motorists to slow down and avoid distractions, especially in work zones
