UPDATE (September 12, 2017 7:11 AM)

One person was killed and another was injured in an apparent worksite accident Monday at a local high school football facility.

At approximately 12:06 p.m. yesterday, the Jasper Police Department responded to Jerry Brewer Alumni Stadium, 415 E. Fourth St. and assisted Memorial EMS and Jasper First Responders with the report of two individuals injured.

Upon arrival officers, along with EMS and Jasper First Responders, located two subjects that had been thrown from a boom lift that they were operating to install lights on a light standard at the field. It is believed that they were bringing the lift back down to the ground and for an unknown reason the lift tipped and fell to the ground, from approximately 40 feet.

One subject was unresponsive and the other was complaining of injury. Both subjects were transported to Memorial Hospital where one of the subject died due to his injuries. The deceased subject was identified as Earl W. Hulsman, age 62, of Jasper. The injured subject was identified as Kurt D. Brescher, age 60, from Velpen, Indiana. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening and he was admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Any further questions regarding Brescher’s status should be referred to Memorial Hospital and any follow up regarding Mr. Hulsman should be directed to the Dubois County Coroner’s Office.
