A 20-plus year member of the Dubois County Auditor’s Office and current deputy has announced her plans to run for the department’s top spot.

Sandra Morton is seeking the democratic nomination for the office of Dubois County Auditor in the May 2018 primary

She has been employed in the auditor’s office since 1996. As deputy auditor, she works closely with all county departments and taxing units on the budget processes, maintains the county funds ledger, prepares the financial statements, monitors grant management and compliance, creates the abstract of property taxes and distributes the settlement of taxes collected.

Morton also assists in maintaining the county computer systems and serves as a trustee of the County Employee Benefit Trust. She is a member of the advisory council for the property tax software used by the county.

A graduate Forest Park High School Morton earned a bachelor of science degree in education from Indiana University.

She and her husband Mark have two daughters and two grandchildren and are members of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Morton has volunteered in various community organizations including the Holy Family Parent Teacher Group, the Holy Family Athletic Booster Club, Jasper High School Girls Soccer Boosters, Girls Track and Field Boosters, and the Performing Arts and Choir Parent Group.

She says she is excited for the opportunity and looks forward to working for the residents of Dubois County as the next County Auditor.
