Fire crews from Tell City, Troy and Cannelton spent hours Monday afternoon battling a large fire that destroyed a popular Cannelton restaurant.

Lost in the blaze was the Rocky Point Bar and Grill.

Firefighters were first called to the bar and grill just before 12 noon. Cannelton fire crews say it appears the fire started near the back of the building, and say high winds made it very difficult to contain the flames.

The restaurant section of the building for the most part was a total loss but apartments connected to the structure are said to have only minor damage.

There were no reports of injuries and an investigation is now underway to try to learn more about what caused the blaze.
