Stephen R. Pence, age 80 of Jasper, Indiana, formerly of Columbia City and Wabash Indiana passed away at 6:04 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2017, in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper.

Stephen was born at Columbia City, Indiana on March 22, 1937 to Russell and Helen (Donnelty) Pence.  He married Nancy E. (Studinski) Pence on July 3, 1972 at Warsaw, Indiana, she preceded him in death on December 31, 2016.

Stephen earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in business commerce.

He retired from General tire at Wabash, Indiana where he had worked for over forty years.

He loved to watch sports, especially Notre Dame Football, and enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing and playing golf.

Surviving,

One daughter, Polly (Brad) Sumansky, Terre Haute, IN

One son, John (Cathy) Householder, Nashville, TN

Five grandchildren;

Ryan (Jennifer), Grant and Zachary Householder, and Joseph and Anna Sumansky.

One great grandson, Cason Householder.

Preceding him in death besides his wife are three brothers, Richard, William and Jack Pence.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.

Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center.
