64 year old Democrat Mary E. “Becky” Beckman, says “I’m for you. Pledge made. Pledge kept.”

Beckman is seeking re-election to the District 2 Dubois County Council seat. Beckman has been the Director of the TRI-CAP Retired and Senior Volunteer program since 2001. She actively serves on the Dubois County Tax Abatement Committee, Communication Committee, Solid Waste Management District Board, Courthouse Security Committee, and the newly formed Criminal Justice Assessment Committee.

I’m more than a meeting a month Councilperson. I work for the common good of the people of Dubois County, and I hear you and I am with you in knowing that billfolds only stretch so far. Taxes are a shared responsibility. Each tax dollar is important to Dubois County’s bottom line and provision of services. Dubois County government is a business of service. That is why I work to get each taxpayer the biggest bang for their buck.”

Beckman is one of ten children born to the late O. Leo and Roselyn Beckman. She graduated from Jasper High School in 1971 and the ISUE (Indiana State University – Evansville) Dental Assisting Program in 1975. Beckman is also a graduate of the VUJC Culinary Academy, Certified Apartment Manager I & II, and the Dale Carnegie Course.

Beckman is a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), is active with St. Joseph Church as a Eucharistic Minister, Light of the World retreatant, Confirmation speaker, and Memorial Hospital’s Prayer and Presence Team.

Dubois County families are my main concern. We face issues that we never dreamt would be happening in our County. But they are happening and we have to be realistic. Solutions are expensive, but our families are priceless. I hope to continue to bring my business and social service background, my senior advocacy and work with mental health and addictions to the Dubois County Council.”
