Kiersten Knies announces she will be a Democratic candidate for the Office of Dubois County Clerk.
Knies has worked as Court Reporter in the Dubois Circuit Court since 2012 for the Hon. William E.
Weikert and the Hon. Nathan A. Verkamp. Prior to working for the county, Knies was employed by Kimball
Office as Government Contract Administration Specialist.

She says she understands the importance of maintaining accurate court records, and have vast experience in the applications that allow our county to maintain such. She added that she has firsthand experience with trial court technology, including the Jury Management System, the Offender Management System, as well as the Protection Order Registry.

Kines has worked with the Indiana Department of Correction in the completion of sentencing documents and abstracts of judgment and assisted in the filing of dozens of appeals and is expertly familiar with the Indiana Court of Appeals process.

Working closely with the Clerk’s Office during the county’s transition to electronic filing, in addition to working along side the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, the Sheriff’s Department as well as the City and State Police Departments to issue arrest and search warrants, Knies says that during her time as a county employee, she had the privilege of creating outstanding working relationships with many county and state agencies which will assist in her success as Dubois County Clerk.

Kines said “As court reporter, I am experienced in court proceedings and case processing from initial case filing to disposition. As a lifelong resident of Dubois County, I have always felt fortunate to live here. I want to be a bigger part of the community and play an active role in the community’s success,” Knies explains. “My experience, education and knowledge make me a strong candidate for Dubois County Clerk. As clerk, I look forward to the opportunity to operate the office in a more accurate and efficient manner which will better serve Dubois County and its residents.”

Knies is a 1997 graduate of Jasper High School and earned Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Political Science
and Sociology from Indiana University, Bloomington in 2002.

Knies is the daughter of Mike and Marsha Hile. She resides in Jasper with her husband, Jason, son of
Joe and Jeanne Knies, and their five daughters; Halle, Harper, Harriet, Hadyn and Hanna Kate. Jason is
employed with Cave Quarries, Inc.

Kiersten is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland and a member of the Super Strikes Steering
Committee for Mentors for Youth. She previously served as a parent volunteer for Destination Imagination and a coach for Ireland Youth Sports.
