Two Jasper men were placed under arrest Monday evening after attempting to steal items from a north-side Jasper convenience store.

Jasper Police say around a quarter after 8 last night 26-year old Jacob Gonzales and 21-year old Eric McNabb both of Jasper were seen entering the Citgo Gas Station along the 2700 block of North Newton Street in Jasper.

Police say the two men were in the store for about 5 minutes and were seen taking food and drink items and placing them into their jackets and pants before exiting the building without paying for them.

Police say the two were interviewed regarding the incident at Jasper Police Headquarters.

Police say both Gonzales and McNabb did knowingly or intentionally take property from the Citgo Gas Station with the intent to deprive them of all or part of its value, thereby committing theft.

Gonzales was charged with a Class A Misdemeanor count of theft, while Mcnabb is charged with a Level 6 Felony due to multiple past theft convictions.

At the request of the store’s owners, both subjects have now been banned from the north side Citgo as well as all other locations in the Jasper area.
