The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for much of Southern Indiana including Dubois County and surrounding areas.

If you have to be on the roads today or tonight be aware as forecasters say the main threat with this system will be damaging wind, but that a tornado could be possible along with the possibility of hail.
Strong southwest winds are expected this afternoon and evening, with sustained winds up to 30 mph and gusts in excess of 40 mph likely even outside of thunderstorms.
In Jasper as a result of the monthly testing of the citywide tornado sirens that took place over Easter it has been determined the siren in the Holy Family subdivision is currently inoperable. Jasper Police Department is encouraging residents in that area to verify their weather radios have fresh batteries and are ready to notify you of any severe weather coming to the area.

In Ireland crews with the Ireland Volunteer Fire Department were called to a fire that was found to have been caused by a lighting strike Monday evening at a home located along the 600 block of County Road 400 West.
Ireland Fire Chief Stan Seifert says just before 11 pm last night crews responded to the home of James Corbin and found flames in the home’s attic area.
He said fire fighters were able to knock down the flames with extinguishers then eventually doused the area with water after fire trucks arrived. Seifert says firefighters checked the area for hot spots and removed insulation.
The home sustained around 30-thousand dollars in damages. No one was injured.
The Ireland Volunteer Fire Department was on the scene for nearly an hour and a half with 19 men and 4 trucks responding.
