Early yesterday morning at 3:36 a.m. Jail Officers were making rounds and discovered a male inmate unresponsive alone in his cell. Jail officers immediately started rendering aid including CPR and the use of an AED and contacted dispatch to send EMS and Jasper Fire Department First Responders. The inmate was transferred by ambulance to Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead at 4:09 a.m. The Dubois County Coroners Office and Dubois County Sheriffs Department are continuing to conduct an investigation. The death is preliminary thought to be suicide by hanging. No Foul play is suspected.

The inmate is identified as 51 year old Jerry O. Frick of Huntingburg, IN.

Frick was being held in the Dubois County Security Center on a pending case from Dubois Circuit Court.
