An accident Friday afternoon led to the arrest of a Vincennes woman on drug possession charges.

According to a Jasper police report, Taylor Frick of Vincennes was driving a black Saturn Vue northbound on Leslie Drive in Jasper and proceeded into the intersection with Northwood Avenue and into the path of a Ford Explorer driven by Melinda Eckert of Jasper.

Frick had disregarded the right of way of Eckert’s Explorer causing the vehicles to collide. Frick’s Saturn then exited the roadway, striking a stop sign and street sign owned by the city of Jasper. Numerous witnesses on the scene advised police that Taylor had fled the scene of the accident on foot carrying a purse. Witnesses also noted that Frick then returned to the scene a few minutes later without the purse.

Officers checked the area, locating the purse unattended approximately one block from the accident scene. Upon further investigation, methamphetamine and marijuana were located in the purse. Taylor Frick was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and operator never licensed.

She was taken into custody and lodged in the Dubois County Security Center. Frick’s Saturn Vue sustained 10-thousand dollars damage, while Eckert’s Explorer had 4-thousand dollars damage.
