A Boonville man is facing several charges after driving a stolen vehicle into the Ohio River, then fleeing the scene.

Police were called to the Troy Boat Ramp after a report of a vehicle in the river yesterday afternoon.

Dispatch advised police that the driver of the vehicle fled on foot, after trying to enter an occupied vehicle parked at the boat ramp.

A witness at the scene told police the vehicle looked like a white box truck.

The vehicle was totally submerged by the time the police arrived.

Indiana Conversation Officers and Perry County Rescue Personnel were called to the scene to remove the vehicle.

Due to high water and dangerous currents, the rescue operation was stopped and will continue when it is safe to do so.

When investigating, an individual matching the description of the suspect was reportedly seen in the barge area west of the boat ramp.

Police later learned a vehicle matching the box truck description was stolen in Owensboro the same day.

His bond is set at $3,305 dollars.
