More information has come to light in investigating yesterday’s gun threat to Jasper Middle School.

Yesterday, the school notified parents that a student sent a picture of a gun with a threatening statement to another student.

After further investigation by the Jasper Police Department, and more information about the interaction between the students, police determined that there was no malicious intent by the sender.

Superintendent of Greater Jasper Consolidated Schools, Tracy Lorey, reiterates how important it is for students to report any information that creates a safety concern to an adult.

A “See Something, Say Something” approach is the best way to ensure concerns are properly investigated.

The Superintendent encourages parents to talk with their children about the appropriate social media, and the consequences of using it the wrong way.
