Daviess County authorities are currently investigating a house fire in Washington.

Daviess County Emergency Management Agency says that just after 2:00 am this morning, Washington Township Fire was called to a fully engulfed house fire. The house was deemed vacant on arrival. Washington Township Fire called in Veale Fire District, Montgomery, and Cannelburg Fire Departments for assistance. Firefighters fought the blaze until almost dawn.  Washington Township units remained on scene this morning as the State Marshal’s Office was called to help determine a cause.

After speaking with homeowners, we have been told that no one was living in the home and all utilities were shut off at the time of the fire. Currently, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
