The City of Jasper is showcasing its unique features all week long as part of Downtown Development Week.

Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch designated this week to recognize what cities and towns across the states do to make their downtowns unique and attract tourists.

Jasper Mayor Dean Vonderheide kicked off the weeklong celebration with a proclamation this morning during the Board of Public Works and Safety Meeting.

Mayor Vonderheide says The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs has sponsored Downtown Development Week for years and explains how it has impacted Downtown Jasper.

Downtown Jasper is showing all they have to offer with a variety of special events.

Vonderheide explains what his goal for these is.
