Thousands of people are without power after strong winds and heavy rainfall moved through the area today.

Dubois REC is reporting more than 1,500 customers without power as of 6 pm.

According to Central Dispatch, there are trees down across the county.

US 231 was closed around 6 pm after a tree fell on top of a truck in Huntingburg.

Huntingburg Police tell us the people inside that truck was treated at the scene and released.

Crews were able to remove the tree and 231 is back open.

Central Dispatch says there are no trees blocking any roads at this time.
