Cletus C. Lubbehusen, 97 of Ferdinand passed away Wednesday November 6th at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. Cletus was born in Ferdinand February 11, 1922 to Albert & Mary (Krampe) Lubbehusen. He married Ardella Bockelman on January 23, 1947 in Saint Joseph Church, Jasper.

Cletus retired from Frank Heidet & Son Hardware after 54 years. He was a lifelong member of Saint Ferdinand Parish, and it’s St. Joseph Sodality. He was a member of Jasper Knights of Columbus # 1584. He was a life member and charter member of Ferdinand American Legion Post 124, serving as commander and adjunct. He was a life member and charter member of Huntingburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 2366. Original Board of Directors of Patoka Lake, and Dubois County Commissioner for 11 years. He also served as Treasurer for the Dubois County Democratic Party for 16 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police since 1960. Cletus was a former member of the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department . He and his wife Ardella were the Grand-Marshals for the Ferdinand Sesquicentennial, as the oldest married couple in Ferdinand.

Surviving are his wife of 72 years Ardella Lubbehusen, one daughter Karen Hopster of Jasper, five sons, Larry (Penny) Lubbehusen of Pittsboro, Kenneth (Doreen) Lubbehusen of Goose Creek, S.C., John (Eileen) Lubbehusen , James Lubbehusen of St. Anthony, and Kevin (Sue) Lubbehusen of Ferdinand. Ten grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. One brother Roy (Hilda) Lubbehusen of Sarasota, FL. Cletus was preceded in death by a son-in-law John Hopster, one sister, Alberta Schum and one brother, Jerome Lubbehusen.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday November 12th in Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church, burial with military graveside rites to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8:00 PM Monday and from 7 to 9:30 AM Tuesday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com.
