Three Jasper Parks are set to close next year.

The Jasper Park Board decided on Tuesday to decommission Uebelohr Park, Northwest Suburban Park, and State Police Park.

These parks have been in talks about being decommissioned for a while. Jasper Park and Recreation Director Ken Buck say that the board has multiple parks that are considered to be decommissioned due to seldom use.

Buck says that there were multiple reasons why the decommissioning process took so long.

Buck says that the decommissioning process for these parks will start at the end of this year and into next year.
