88-year-old Elizabeth “Betty” Tempel, of Ferdinand passed away Saturday May 22, 2021 at Scenic Hills at the Monastery in Ferdinand. Betty was born December 5, 1932 in Ferdinand to Hilbert and Rose M. (Kitten) Pund. She was united in marriage to Roman Tempel on July 3, 1951 in Saint Ferdinand Church. Roman preceded her in death on September 12, 2020.

Elizabeth was a lifelong member of Saint Ferdinand Parish, and it’s St. Anns Sodality. She was a member of Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 Auxillary, Huntingburg V.F.W. Auxillary, Ferdinand Daughters of Isabella, and Ferdinand Senior Citizens.

Surviving are seven daughters, Jo Rene Richard, and Rebecca Hedinger both of Ferdinand, Michelle Brockman, and Cindy (Terry) Faulkenberg both of Saint Meinrad, Cheryl (Bobby) Childress of Saint Henry, Karen (Larry) Franchville of Bandon, and Sharon (Joel) Jones of English. Three sons, LeRay (Clara) Tempel of Saint Meinrad, Paul (Julie) Tempel of Huntingburg, and Jeff (Tracy) Tempel of Ferdinand. Thirty-seven grandchildren, and sixty-one great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mary Jo Haake of California, and Sue (Harold) Harris of Columbus. One brother Richard (Jane) Pund of Louisville. One brother-in-law, Bill Dilger of Huntingburg and one sister-in- law, Romilda Pund. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Donald Pund and a sister Renilda Dilger and sons-in-laws, Mike Richard, Dennis Hedinger, and Mark Brockman.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30 AM Friday May 28th in Saint Ferdinand Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Friday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com.
