Kenneth L. Beck, age 93, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away surrounded by family at 12:44 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2023, in Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana. 

Mr. Beck was born in Jasper, Indiana, on November 3, 1929, to Urban and Bertha (Lechner) Beck.  He married Alice Buechler on October 13, 1953, in St. Anthony Catholic Church. 

He was a 1947 graduate of Jasper High School.  He received the Jasper High School Alumni Distinction Award on April 20, 2012, for positive success. 

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, Ordnance Corps in the Korean War, where he flew C-117 Supply Planes from Japan to Korea supplying the 18th Infantry of the 3rd U.S. Army. 

Mr. Beck graduated from Lockyear Business College with a degree in business, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. 

Mr. Beck was President, Secretary Treasurer, and Chairman of Jasper Lumber Company for over 75 years.  He was also the founder of A-1 Reality, Industrial Investments, and Beck and Loechte Inc. 

He was a member of the Dubois County Builders Association, the Jasper Chamber of Commerce, the V.F.W. Post #673, and the American Legion Post #147.  He was on the Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C., in recognition for his service in the Korean War.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the St. Joseph’s Men’s Sodality. 

Mr. Beck was an avid golfer and tennis player and belonged to the men’s golf league in Winter Haven, Florida.  He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-grandchildren. 

He enjoyed his fishing and canoe trips with friends and family around the United States and Canada. 

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Alice Beck, Jasper, IN, two daughters, Brenda (Ted) Seger, Jasper, IN, Gale (Scott) Rottet, Jasper, IN, one son, Mark (Joyce) Beck, Ferdinand, IN, eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren. 

Preceding him in death are one sister and brother-in-law, Patricia (Bernie) Schwenk. 

A Mass of Christian Burial for Kenneth L. Beck will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. 

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Tuesday. 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
