THIS WEEK: 41st Annual WBDC Country Showdown
WBDC radio station is excitedly looking forward to the Thursday, June 8th, 2023, return of the WBDC Country Showdown to the Jasper Arts Center stage for its 41st annual show.
Upcoming Jasper Street Closures
On Monday, June 5th, 2023, MacArthur Street, between 7th and 13th Streets, West 15th Street, between St. Charles Street and Rolling Ridge Road, and West 15th Street, between Linne Drive and Martha Drive, will undergo patching and paving throughout the week.
Tuesday, June 6th, 2023, officials will also close Power Drive at the 12th Street intersection to HRJ Lane. The closure will allow crews to perform demolition and reconstruction of the street.
MHHCC: Spencer County Cancer and Immune System Presentation
On Thursday, June 29th from 6:00 – 7:15 PM CT Dr. Kevin Schewe, Radiation Oncologist at Memorial Hospital’s Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center, will present “Advancements in Cancer Treatment & 7 Steps to a Healthy Immune System” at Santa’s Lodge.
Connect to Cure: Hepatitis C Care Initiative
The Damien Center and the Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis are using nearly $6.6 million in funding from the Indiana Department of Health’s Health Issues and Challenges grant program to launch the Connect to Cure initiative.
The initiative will involve hiring hepatitis C care coordinators, testers and peer support specialists who will staff 19 regional sites across the state.

71-year-old Raymond J. “Ray” Schwenk, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, in the Heart-to-Heart Hospice Facility in Evansville.
