The Arctic cold that placed most of the area in a chokehold for over a week managed to provide a unique opportunity and training environment for the Boonville Fire Department this past week.


The BFD states they get ice-related emergencies every year but the weather the last week or so gave them a chance to practice these rescues in a more safe and controlled manner to keep them prepared for the real deal.

As a reminder, always exercise caution when you are near frozen water and try to keep your furry friends away as they can often get into trouble quickly on the thin ice the area normally receives.
