On Saturday, April 6, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, ceramic artist Monte Young Pottery will be hosting an Open House & Art Sale during his next wood kiln firing at his Jasper, Indiana studio located at 2841 South State Road 162.

Young, known for his rich earthy-toned wood-fired pottery, is offering this event for the community to have a closer look into the wood-firing process. The artist fires his outdoor 65 cubic foot kiln approximately 3 times per year. The kiln design has an internal firebox that offers flashing effects on pots closest to the firebox and ash-kissed glaze ware in the back of the pots an effect that he is particularly fond of. Along with the wood kiln firing there will be artwork for sale as well as pottery demonstrations, wood turning, and clay carving.

Drinks and wood-fired pizza will be available. Artists participating in this outdoor event will be Monte Young Pottery, ceramic and mosaic artists Romy & Clare Designs, Frankie & Co. Leather, Luke Verkamp Ceramics, ceramic jewelry artist Sara Fort, and Chris Dixon Woodworking. For more information visit monteyoungpottery.com.
