Daviess County Sheriff Office is investigating a triple fatality traffic accident that occurred on Monday, May 27th, 2024, at approximately 4:49am in the morning on I-69 near the 56.5 mile marker.

The investigation is still ongoing in that we are attempting to identify those involved, notify families, and reconstruct the accident. Two vehicles were involved in the accident, three (3) people were pronounced deceased at the scene from one vehicle, the driver of the second was transported to Deaconess hospital in Evansville.

More information will be released as the investigation continues.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Washington City Fire Department, Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department, Cannelburg Volunteer Fire Department, the Daviess County Ambulance Service, the Daviess County Coroner’s Office, the Indiana State Police, Briggeman’s Wrecker Service and Countryside Wrecker Service.
